Built Tough
Engineered for corrugations, not carparks
100% full composite shell with an external exoskeleton and internal bracing. Cabinetry glued and dowelled rather than screwed, every bolt Nyloc or double-locked — because we spent decades watching where cheaper builds fail first.
Lived In Comfortably
A real home, not a survival kit
Permanent pocket-sprung bed, a U-shaped lounge you can actually relax in, hydronic heating with no cold spots, and a hot shower waiting at the end of the day. Comfort isn't the compromise — it's the point.

The Builder
Thirty years in caravans. A lifetime with tools in hand.
Expedition Habitats is built by Andrew, who has spent over 30 years working inside the RV, caravan and camper-van industry — engineering, designing, maintaining and producing some of the industry's leading products long before starting this workshop.
That includes hands-on years repairing European composite caravans and motorhomes for brands like Hymer and Dethleffs, which is where the real education happened: watching, firsthand, exactly where and why those builds eventually failed.
Andrew has also held UK electrical qualifications since the 1990s, alongside UK Gas Safe / ACS certification covering appliance and LPG work — most recently renewed in 2023. Those particular tickets don't transfer to Australia or elsewhere in the world, but the standard they represent does: every wiring run, gas line and appliance install in an Expedition Habitats box is approached with that same trade discipline, not a caravan-park shortcut.

From rugged Australian outback trails to remote mountain passes in China, our overland habitation boxes are currently traversing every corner of the globe. Kiwis On The Way are travelling the world in one of our Outback Overlander habitation boxes — upgraded with 55mm thick composite, 600L of filtered water and 1,260W of solar — and it's still going.
